DRUGS DISPOSAL

We all have a pile of expired, unused prescription and non-prescription drugs that sits in the medicine closet. What can you do with them? Unused, expired or unwanted medicines should be disposed of properly to avoid misuse and contamination. When trashed, medecines find their way to the environment. Trashed drugs contaminate aquatic organisms and can enter our water supply. So how can you safely dispose of your used drugs? There are couple of options for safe disposal of medicines in Houston:

• The DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) offers a search engine with authorized medicines drop-offs. 

• Some Walgreens phamarcies have a disposal box in store where drugs can be dropped off.

DEA Take Back Day, every last Saturday in October & May.

Twice a year, the DEA is partnering with some collection sites in Harris County to collect your used medications. Bring your used, unused, expired, prescription or non-prescription drugs. The DEA will safely dispose them of.
